Our History
Established in 1998 as a center to help women go from welfare to work, Project Saving Grace has worked hard to help the community.
In the beginning with lots of community volunteers and help from city officials we were able to provide clothing for one hundred women. Not only did we do that we also managed to provide toys for needy kids and provide groceries for families also.
Fortunately for us we did not have to worry about rent or utilities as we ran our program out of a police community center. However as time passed on we started to hit some barriers in our desire to help others. We found that people did not want to donate if they couldn't in the very least get a tax- write off and many companies would not give money to us if we were not a non-profit.
Now at this point some people would just give up, but not the volunteers here, we decided that if we needed to be a non-profit in order to get help then that's exactly what we would do. By August of 2000 we officially became a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, and in this role we have officially been around for nine years.
Over the years, we have seen non-profits our size be devoured by larger ones, but we have a lot of that they didn't have and that is good old fashioned gumption, that keeps us going on.
So with that said, we invite you to tour our web site and see what we have to offer the Hollywood Community.
